‘Real Madrid will pay for Franco Mastantuono in three instalments: €20m, €12.5m in June 2026 and €12.5m in June 2027,’ Brito revealed.

Breto also asked River Plate fans not to vent their anger over Mastantuono’s departure on him and not the player. Saying: ‘Whoever is angry about this, come down on me.’

The River Plate president also revealed that. He tried to keep the 17-year-old midfielder at the club until the end of the year, but was unsuccessful.

‘We failed to achieve our goal of keeping Franco Mastantuono until the end of the year. Real Madrid have reached the point where they have to think: ‘It has to be now or nothing.’

‘The fact is that the player signed an agreement with the club. Which is why it was paid in installments.’

‘Franco Mastantuono tried his best to stay until the end of the year. He tried until the last minute. He helped River Plate put pressure on him to stay and I couldn’t say no. We always found willingness because he loves River Plate.’
